About The El Casino Ballroom

Multi-Purpose Facility

Our present facility is an excellent venue for concert events and family celebrations because of its floor plan and its large wooden dance floor.  It is approximately 12,000 sq. ft. in area and lends itself to mid-to-large events.  We are open for events, concerts, celebrations, special event projects, dances, fund-raisers, weddings, mixers, banquets, workshops, company parties, and award presentations.

About "The El Casino"

The El Casino Ballroom is a historical ballroom which was constructed in 1947 and opened later that year.  The ballroom generated 45 years of memories, cultural tradition and ambiance through the 40's, 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's and early 90's.  Hundreds of local, national and international acts performed at the old ballroom such as Tommy Dorsey, Perez Prado, Tito Puente, Vincente Fernandez, Juan Gabrial and Little Joe.  Also, Sunny, Jimmy Edwards, Malo, Fats Domino, Little Richard, Ray Camacho and many, many others.  Numerous local bands were also part of El Casino's history, not to mention the thousands of families who have held their special traditional celebrations at this historical ballroom.

In October 1991, the Ballroom sustained extensive damage to it's roof by a tremendous thunderstorm and was temporarily closed for repairs.  It was later closed for liability reasons, putting an end to a half century of tradition.

Our Mission and Goals

The Mission of the El Casino Ballroom is to provide the Tucson community with a comfortable and familiar location for musical, cultural and special traditional family events.  It is precisely for this reason, our rich cultural tradition, that we started to resurrect this historical landmark.  We needed to restore our rich heritage that this ballroom helped generate for almost half a century.  We needed to bring back "The El Casino" to the Tucson community because it represents an entity which is greatly lacking, not only to the Hispanic community, but to the community at large.
